is the name I chose to use when showing my portrait work. It came from this idea to approach portraiture as a collaborative process. Subjects bring their semblance and personalities, we talk, then magic happens.

Les Magiciens

A close-up portrait of a man with dark hair, a beard, and an earring, wearing a black shirt, against a dark cloudy sky background.

Matt Ayotte is a gay photography artist living in Montreal. Known for a creative, character-driven approach to portraiture, he has a particular love for all things spooky.

His “Act One” series was part of Les Fenêtres Qui Parlent in quartier Ville-Marie in 2018 and won le prix du jury during a group exhibit at Maison Antoine Lacombe in 2019. In 2025, he furthered his practice through the Atelier AIR art residency in France, adding new dimensions to his ongoing exploration of intimacy and identity.

His commercial food and lifestyle work can be seen on his professional website.
